Barry lives and works from his home in the largely unknown and unspoilt region of Abruzzo in Italy.

"I do not restrict myself solely to food and travel writing and have experience of writing many other subjects, inc weddings, theatre, education, and toys."

Barry originally trained and worked as a professional actor his CV includes perfomances in many major theatrical roles, including, Jim Hawkins, in Treasure Island, Face, in the Alchemist and William Lloyd, in Rod of Iron. Shakespeare roles have included, Macbeth, Bassanio and the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet. His Film and TV appearances have included Hollyoaks, How We Used to LIve, Back Up and Staying Alive.

 

Later, Barry turned his attention to writing plays and educational workshops before forming a hugely succesful arts education company.

 

He retired from playwriting and the theatre to concentrate on fiction writing, One day he was approached to write a travel feature for a trade magazine, and this led to his eventually working as a freelance features writer.

 

Initially experienced in travel and food writing,he's been privileged to have experienced many diverse cultures. His experiences include being kidnapped in the Middle East, trekking through the jungles in Borneo and surviving 79 days and nights in a camper van touring through New Zealand.
